Our Mens 1st Team played in three pre-season matches this past weekend at the National Stadium at Lee Valley. Three wins from three provided the opportunity for the team to continue to gel and they now look ahead to their last 5 days of preparation before their opening fixture at home to Holcombe on Saturday September 23rd.
Opening with a 6:1 win against Cardiff & Met from the West Conference, EG's goals were scored by Andy Piper (2), Rob Cope and a debut hat-trick for Liam Ansell. The squad followed this up with a 5:2 win against Doncaster including two more goals for Liam Ansell, Andy Piper, Wesley Jackson and Tony Wilson.
Saturday's matches also saw new boy Luke Tyne being voted most valuable player by a slim margin from Liam Ansell.
The final game of the weekend saw the boys win 6:2 against Oxted with goals coming from Tony Wilson (2), Ross Stott, Andy Piper, Kieran Mulholland and Rob Cope.
Head Coach Glenn Kirkham commented "the squad is really shaping up nicely and we are looking forward to welcoming back David Condon and Chris Griffiths".
